Continued commitment to equality of opportunity and diversity in the workplace

Developing the Firm's diversity strategy/programme to foster an inclusive culture and to enhance support and opportunities for those groups who are less represented than others.

  • Bristows has a Diversity Committee responsible for championing diversity in all aspects of its business.
  • The Committee is actively considering practical ways to promote and advance Bristows' Diversity Policy in its recruitment processes and its treatment of staff.
  • The Committee is involved in the review of Bristows' policies and procedures to ensure that they remain appropriate, relevant and compliant.
  • The Committee aims to develop a programme for providing information about careers in law firms to school children in an under-privileged and ethnically mixed area of central London.
  • Bristows aims to develop its diversity strategy in part by linking into various professional networks with relevant agendas. For example, the firm has been represented at inaugural meetings of the InterLaw forum for LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender) networks.  Female members of the firm's life sciences group attend meetings of the Women in Biotech network.
  • Bristows has a long track record of supporting and encouraging female lawyers and staff.  Around two thirds of our staff including a third of our partners are female
