Qualified 2009
Tom joined the firm as a trainee in 2007 and qualified into the Commercial Disputes practice in 2009. He maintains a broad practice area covering a range of contentious issues, including those relating to contract, defamation, product liability and intellectual property. He has a particular interest in the Consumer Products and Technology, Media and Telecommunications sectors.
Tom recently advised the claimant in SAS Institute Inc. v World Programming Limited [2010] where the High Court referred questions to the European Court of Justice for a preliminary ruling which raise fundamental questions about the scope of copyright protection over software. He also gained valuable commercial insight during a secondment at a leading software licensing company.
