Helen specialisesin competition law with a particular focus on the competition/intellectual property interface.

Helen has considerable competition litigation experience and has a particular interest in intellectual property disputes which involve competition law and associated non-technicaldefences.  She has assisted with the competition law and ‘FRAND’ aspects of several global and UK telecommunications patent disputes involvingstandardisedtechnology, including EU Commission proceedings.  She has also been involved in dealing with investigations and information requests from national and EU competition regulators in the consumer products, pharmaceuticals and telecommunications industries. She advises regularly on the competition issues that arise in distribution, licensing, agency and horizontal arrangements between companies as well as dominance issues that arise for companies with larger market shares.

Helen has written regularly for leading practitioner publications such as Competition Law Insight and Journal of Intellectual Property Law and Practice.

Helen has spent time on secondment to the in-house legal department of a leading global IT company as well as a leading global biopharma company. Her background in biochemistry gives her a valuable understanding of the technology of Bristows' IP clients in the pharmaceutical and biotechnology fields.
