James trained at Bristows and qualified into our commercial IP, IT and Data Protection practices. His Masters degree provides a solid base for understanding technology related issues.

James has worked on transactions in both the TMT and life sciences sectors, including pharmaceutical patent licence agreements and framework services agreements. He has also provided advice on non-transactional commercial matters, including trade mark holder liability, e-commerce and export controls.

James has a strong grounding in data protection law and his recent work includes advising on product development and US discovery issues. He has coordinated European compliance programmes and has drafted client-specific documentation, such as model clause agreements and privacy policies.

In addition, James has spent four months on secondment to Sony Computer Entertainment Europe and has recently advised on the IP, IT and Data Protection aspects of a corporate acquisition in the life sciences sector.
